On display & stowed away -
Built-ins are not what they once were, and are no longer monogamous to Craftsman and MCM design. Beautiful, utilitarian cabinets and shelving can be retrofit in, feeling as though they have always been there; blending perfectly with their surroundings and creating organization. What we want to see is there, and what we need to hide is gone- but still close.
And for those of us with things to display, custom built-ins can be the streamlined solution. These can take the place of many other pieces of furniture: storage, book shelves & media, all in one. Custom built-in cabinets can add both functionality and design to a room, all of which can match the existing aesthetic of your home.
Here we see one of our recent projects in Amity. We built in a wall of drawers, cabinets and shelves to meet the storage needs for the entire space. By taking the structure floor to ceiling, it has become part of the home itself.
We utilized both glass and metal mesh for the cabinet fronts on this project, as some things we wanted to showcase, and some things we wanted to conceal. Behind the metal fronted cabinets are shelving and drawer systems for media storage, as well as the sound system on top. As we look at the glass-fronted middle cabinets, Space is provided for the clients collection. This can be an alternative way to give a substantial facelift to a space without doing a full renovation.
If you have desire to build in to your existing space, allowing you to remove furniture and create more storage, reach out to us! We would love to discuss options for your space.
